Home Park Community Meeting Notes
Date: Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Public Safety (Kathy):
- Zone 5 Assistant Commander (Lieutenant Snowden) introduced himself and Officer Babb. Lieutenant Snowden is Commander of the APD Midtown Precinct and Officer Babb will be joining the Home Park patrol during the night hours. Officer Stevens will continue to be part of the Home Park patrol during the day hours.
- Midtown Blue is partnering up with APD and GTPD to purchase a Dodge Charger police interceptor which will be used for patrolling Home Park, specifically between the hours of 8:00pm to 4:00am when most of the historical robberies have occurred. The team manning the car will include one police officer each from APD & GTPD and will be actively patrolling the neighborhood (in addition to existing neighborhood patrols).
- Report:
o Overall crime is down
o Copper theft still concern
o Car break-ins are still a problem
o GTPD more active in neighborhood than past
o Frequent checkpoints & undercover policing by APD
- Call 911 if you see anything suspicious
- HP Safety “Umbrella”
o Atlantic Station security patrols from 16th to 14th

- “Rooming Houses” are currently the focus of policing within the neighborhood, as they tend to attract a bad crowd à if you know one please contact Officer Nelms with Code Enforcement

Georgia Power Substation (Shaun/Eric/Will):
- CBA has been submitted to Georgia Power, awaiting response
- Transitioned to new Project Manager (from planner to do-er)
- Grading is expected to start this Fall
- Used for two days for movie / television show filming
Land Use (Eric/Shaun):
- Antico Pizza applied for and was granted a liquor license, contingent upon their agreeing to a CBA (Community Benefit Agreement)
- Auto Spa & Lounge applied for and was granted a liquor license, contingent upon their agreeing to a CBA
Planning & Development (Keith):
- CDP update – neighborhood center vs. intown corridor
Social (Barry):
- Labor Day Picnic (Monday, September 5th)
o Location: Home Park Park
o Time: 4pm
o What: HPCIA supplies burgers, dogs, fixins, soft drinks, water, & lemonade
o Bring: Side or “other” favorite beverage; folding chairs
Marketing / Communications (Joe):
- Survey
o Open to all HP residents
o Goal is to get published:

- Old HP listserv posts have been archived and now are only available to HP members
Treasury (Hugh):
- Finances are in the black this year
- Received dues from Turner Properties
- Encourage everyone to join if they have not done so already
- $20 for individual, $40 for family, $50 for business
General Updates:
- Solid Waste Pickup Changes (flyers)
o New Trash/Recycling/Debris Pick-Up Weekly on Mon
o Bulk Collection 4th Week of Each Month
o Bulk Collection will be from in front of houses à does not need to be carried to specific pick-up points as was initially believed to be the case
- Street Sweeping has resumed à currently slated to occur quarterly

o Goal is to make Connector prettier by reasonable-cost initiatives
o Driven by Midtown Alliance & Central Atlanta Progress
o Key design ideas: greenery, lighting, art, & viewpoints
