Planning and Development in Home Park

Land Use and Planning and Development

Home Park is actively involved in efforts to guide the development and improvement of land within the neighborhood, as well as to define the streetscapes, walkability, and greenspace goals that make the neighborhood healthier going into the future.  A map of the neighborhood is available here.

The Greater Home Park Master Plan is a culmination of literally thousands of hours of work by dozens of dedicated neighbors and planning professionals. Nearly ten years ago, we began with Workshop Home Park, a charette sponsored by the Georgia Conservancy. This series of meetings brought Home Park into the city-planning spotlight and helped us garner the resources and funding necessary to take our strategic plan to a higher level - the Master Plan itself.

It took several more years and financial contributions in excess of $100,000, but we never quit. Finally, our master plan was completed and presented to the City of Atlanta and within a short time, was incorporated into the City's Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP).

Since then, we've partnered with the Midtown Alliance and others to help with the conceptualization of the new 14th Street Bridge, worked side-by-side with Selig Partners to help flesh out a neighborhood-compatible project for the signature site along Techwood Drive from 16th Street to 14th Street, and used all that we've learned to start the next phase of our own planning initiative - conversion of design criteria into enforceable standards for Atlanta's city planners.

Our work continues. If you wish to learn more or would like to participate in this ongoing project, contact any member of our Community Development or Land Use Committees. The Land Use Committee meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 PM to discuss building and development plans for the neighborhood.
